Casa Barranca, which means ‘house on the gorge’, was originally a farm cottage and separate stable. In 2018 it was sensitively renovated to form one spacious and luxurious single storey villa with a spacious living area, modern kitchen, three large bedrooms sleeping seven, three bathrooms, private pool, terraces and gardens. With terracotta tiles throughout, vaulted ceilings and bright furnishings, it retains its traditional Spanish charm and provides spacious and airy accommodation.
Located on the edge of an avocado plantation, it is only 5 kms inland from the bustling coastal town of Nerja, and 2kms from the award-winning historic village of Frigiliana.
Private pool and gardens
Casa Barranca has its own secluded and private pool, terraces and gardens with avocado, olive, grapefruit, lemon, clementine, and lime trees. The terrace is shaded by mature grape and Bougainvillea vines.
There are six sun loungers which can be used around the pool or on the terraces that surround the house.
Stunning views
Casa Barranca is situated in the countryside and enjoys all round views of dramatic mountains, rolling hills covered in olive, mango and avocado plantations, and the Mediterranean Sea.
It benefits from all day sun and is cooled by sea breezes.
Perfect location
Thanks to its location and surrounding gardens, Casa Barranca is exceptionally private and peaceful, yet it is only 1 km from the main Nerja to Frigiliana road. The villa is located on a very quiet concrete track and has ample private parking adjacent to the property. There is a regular bus service nearby so, whilst a car is recommended, it is not essential.
It is only 45 minutes by car from Malaga airport and there are frequent buses from Nerja to Malaga City Centre from where you can catch one of the many airport buses. If a car is required, there are many car hire companies at Malaga Airport.
Living Area
With cool terracotta tiles, warm tones, vaulted ceilings and comfortable furnishings, the large airy L-shaped living space provides a sumptuous area where guests can relax. Situated directly off the living area are the terraces, pool and garden.

Outside Casa Barranca
Being South-facing means that Casa Barranca basks in all day sun - from the minute it rises over the dramatic mountains in the East, to the minute it sets behind the rolling hills to the West.

The solar heated pool is situated invitingly close to the terrace making it very easy to flop in and hop onto the floating beanbag to relax and read in the sun.

A coffee table made from an antique Sri Lankan window creates an impressive centre piece for the outdoor seating area.
This is arguably the best spot in Casa Barranca, with uninterrupted views over the hills to the west, and southwards to the Mediterranean Sea. It is the perfect place for a sunset drink, morning coffee, or to simply just sit, watch the view, and wish you were nowhere else!
Dine
The large outdoor table seats up to 12 and is conveniently situated on the terrace just off the kitchen. By day, the grape vines and Bougainvillea provide welcome shade for comfortable outdoor dining. There is no better way to spend an evening than enjoying a candlelit Mediterranean meal cooked on the barbecue as the sun goes down over the hills
An easy 2km walk away is the historic village of Frigiliana which is known for its Moorish old quarter and narrow streets decorated with ceramic mosaics. Frigiliana was declared one of Spain’s ‘Seven Rural Wonders’. It is also a member of ‘The Most Beautiful Towns of Spain’ association.

The villa is perfect - we came as a family of 7 - spacious, well laid out, pool and bbq with a spectacular view over the valley and mountains, tastefully decorated, and perfectly kitted out.
I'd highly recommend it as a place to stay and just hang out and relax, or explore the mountains, local towns or beaches. Also close to Granada which we loved. The short walk up to Frigiliana is recommended, with spectacular views if you walk up to the castle above the town.

The house is in a quiet street about 1km away from Frigiliana. It is lovingly decorated and really inviting. On the terrasse with the pool we enjoyed sunsets over the hill.
