Travel directions to Frigiliana

The following airlines all fly into either Malaga AGP (aprox. 40 min drive) or Granada GRX (aprox 90 min drive) to Frigiliana. It's almost impossible to keep track of all the companies and all their routes, but we'll endeavour to maintain this page with as much accurate information as possible. Malaga International airport -Aeroporto Pablo Picasso - has regular international services to and from all parts of the world. To get to Frigiliana you can hire a car, take a taxi or use the excellent public transport system. If travelling by car use the newly opened Autovia del Mediterraneo. The journey from the airport now takes around 40 minutes. On leaving the airport you need to take the route signposted Ronda de Malaga in the direction of Seville, Granada and Almeria. After a few miles the road divides, one way for Granada and Seville and the other for Almeria. You take the Almeria route. This leads you on to the Autovia del Mediterraneo which now takes you the whole way to the Nerja/Frigiliana junction J292.  At Nerja take the road to Frigiliana and follow this winding mountain road for approximately four kilometres unitl you get to the town. Follow instructions that will be provided for you, for aspecific meeting place If travelling by bus you will need to alight at Nerja and take one of the regular buses that serve the town of Frigiliana on the hour, except on Sunday when you will need a taxi. A taxi from the airport will cost about Euro 90.

Travelling from Malaga – Frigiliana by public transport

 You need to leave the airport and take the train or bus to Malaga Central Train Station or bus Station accordingly (they sit back-to-back with each other so quite easy to connect between the two.

 Malaga airport train transfers’ go from the train station found outside the international terminal. You have to go up the escalator stairs in the arrival lobby and go to the departures lobby. Go to the upper deck parking area and turn right. Look for the signs which indicate the train station, passing over the walkway bridge. It is about a 12 minute ride to Malaga city. These train start to work at a little after 7:00 a.m. with about half an hour frequency between them. You can catch the last train at a quarter to twelve, just before midnight.

Malaga airport bus schedule (local bus) can be caught right after leaving the principal arrivals lobby, to the right. If going to Malaga city, catch number # 19 bus. This is not a direct service and makes stops along the route, picking up passengers.

    The Bus Company from Malaga Bus Station to Nerja is Alsina Graells (part of National Express), tickets should be bought before boarding in the bus station (Look for the ALSA logo) or pre-book as they are not sold on the bus.

 Once in Nerja at the Bus Station, two options exists, either a local taxi (collect by bus station)

DON’T LET THE DRIVER DROP YOU OFF UNLESS AT THE MEETING POINT. DON’T BE WALKING WITH SUITCASES IN THE HEAT!

Nerja-Frigiliana: 07.20, 09.45, 11.00**, 12.00, 13.30, 15.00, 16.00**, 19.00, 20.30

 **Sábados No El servicio de las 21.00 horas Frigiliana-Nerja , entre el 15 de julio al 31 de Agosto se efectuará a las 22.00h.

** On Saturdays there is no service at 21:00 Frigiliana – Nerja between the 15th July and 31st August.
